Why 90% of Forex traders are losing money

Why 90% of Forex traders are losing money

    March 28, 2026

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room: Forex trading.

I’ve seen the ads. You’ve seen them too. Usually, it’s some guy on a beach with a laptop, claiming he made five figures while eating breakfast. But if it’s that easy, why are 90% of traders basically flushing their money down the drain?

I just finished watching the latest episode of Konnected Minds, and Derrick sat down with someone who actually knows the game. They didn't hold back. This wasn't a "get rich quick" seminar; it was a reality check that every ambitious Ghanaian needs to hear before they deposit their hard-earned Cedis into a broker account.

    The Discipline Problem

The conversation hit on something huge right away: psychology. It turns out, the charts aren't the hard part. The hard part is you. Most people approach the market like a casino. They see a green candle, get greedy, and risk way too much. Then, when the market dips, they panic and close their positions too early.

One of the biggest takeaways for me was the idea of "revenge trading." You lose a bit of money, you get angry, and you try to "win it back" by doubling your stake. This is exactly how accounts get blown in minutes. Are you trading with a plan, or are you just gambling because you’re bored?

    The "Signal" Trap

We also touched on the trap of Telegram signal groups. You know the ones—promising 99% accuracy if you just pay a monthly fee. The guest explained why this rarely works long-term. If you don’t understand why a trade is being made, you’ll never have the confidence to see it through when things get volatile. You aren't learning a skill; you’re just renting someone else’s brain. And that brain might not be as smart as they claim.

So, how do you get into that 10%?

It sounds boring, but the answer is risk management. The successful traders aren’t the ones making the most money; they’re the ones who are the best at not losing money. They treat it like a business. They have a strategy, they backtest it, and they stick to it even when it feels uncomfortable.

Derrick and his guest really emphasized that wealth creation isn't a sprint. If you're coming into Forex because you need to pay rent by Friday, you've already lost. You need a clear head and a long-term lens.

What do you think? Is Forex a viable path to wealth in Ghana, or is it too risky for the average person? Watch the full episode above and let’s discuss in the comments.
